About Us.

Our History

Grupo Poder y Esperanza was born from the brave and persevering struggle of three mothers who faced unimaginable challenges on their path to obtain resources and support for their children with disabilities. Throughout their respective experiences, these women recognized that they were not alone; Their struggle was echoed by many other families facing the same concerns and needs.

United by the desire to find answers and solutions, they formed a circle of parents, where mutual support and the exchange of experiences became the pillar of their collective strength. Together, they began exploring the resources available in their community and connected with organizations that offered training and access to specialists. In this process, they not only gained valuable knowledge but also received leadership training that gave them tools to advocate for their children and their families effectively.

With the arrival of the pandemic, the need for support became even more evident. Faced with increased uncertainty and a lack of accessible resources, these mothers decided to innovate and adapt to the circumstances. They took on the task of offering online sessions, which allowed them to not only help their immediate families, but also expand their reach and create a supportive space for many more. Thus, Grupo Poder y Esperanza began offering a variety of services specifically designed to assist families facing similar challenges.

The ultimate goal of Grupo Poder y Esperanza is clear: to help families provide the best possible quality of life for their loved ones. Through a supportive community and accessible resources, the organization seeks to make a real difference in the lives of many families.

We invite you to join our community and discover how we can help you on your own journey. At Grupo Poder y Esperanza, we believe that together we are stronger and that every step we take in this fight helps build a better future for our children and for everyone.

Mission

Our mission is to provide support and resources to individuals and families affected by one of four categories of medical conditions: Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD), Mental Health (MH), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Substance Use (SU). Our goal is to share information, techniques and resources within the community through workshops, professional talks, trainings and community information sessions. By learning to recognize the problems and needs faced by group members, we strive to find workable solutions through advocacy and support of community authorities. Our ultimate goal is to create a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
